In 1 Corinthians 13:8, the Apostle Paul says, “Love never fails.” He does not mean that acting in love nothing will ever go wrong or that relationships won’t end.

If you love in the active sense described in verses 1 – 7 and offer God unselfish service, love never fails. Love is not part of an equation that has a right or wrong answer. Love is a sum total in and of itself.

When acting in love you are the closest to experiencing God that is possible on earth. This is why giving gifts or giving of yourself in service to others feels so very good. Love and that special feeling it brings is why we give gifts at Christmas and other holidays.

In 13:12, Paul says, “For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”

Love enables us to know God, yet only as a reflection.

Paul sums up in 13:13 with “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

Your faith, based on God’s word and help from the Holy Spirit, enables you to search for God’s reflection. Your hope is the attitude required to believe. With faith and hope you can love. It is a choice manifested by thoughts, words, and actions.

List three love actions you can take today.
